Prayer of the Sick

Prayer of the Sick Muslim scholars are unanimously agreed that a person, whether a man or a woman, if he cannot stand up for him, should pray sitting. If he is unable to pray sitting, then he should pray on his side, facing the qiblah with his face. Al-Bukhari in his Sahih that the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said to Imran bin Husayn: Pray standing, and if you are not able, then sitting, and if you are not able, then on your side. He nods to bow, then sits down and nods to prostrate.

Patient purity

First, the sick person must perform ablution from minor impurity and ghusl from major impurity. If he cannot purify himself with water due to his inability or fear of increasing his illness or delaying his recovery, he may perform tayammum: which is to strike the pure earth with his hand once, then wipe all his face with it, then wipe his palms together. Then, if he is not able to perform ablution by himself, then another person performs ablution or tayammum, and it is permissible for a sick person to perform ablution on the wall or on another clean thing that has dust.

Patient prayer

The sick person must perform the obligatory prayer standing, even if he is bent or leaning against a wall, or relying on a stick that he needs to rely on. And the right side is better, if he is not able to turn towards the qiblah, he prays where his direction and his prayer is correct, and he does not have to repeat it. It was not returned.

The sick person must bow and prostrate during his prayer, and if he is not able to nod with his head and make the prostration lower than bowing, if he is able to bow without prostrating, he should bow while bowing and nod for prostration. Then he closes his eyes a little for bowing and he closes more for prostration. As for pointing with the finger as some patients do, it is not correct.

patient licenses

The sick person must pray each prayer at its time. If it is too difficult for him to do each prayer at its time, he may combine the Zuhr prayer with the Asr prayer, and between the Maghrib prayer and the Isha prayer, either an earlier combination in which Asr comes before Dhuhr and Isha to Maghrib, or a delayed combination in which he delays Dhuhr to Asr and Maghrib. To dinner, as is easier for him. As for dawn, it is not combined for what came before it or what comes after it. If the patient is traveling and is being treated in a country other than his country, he should shorten the four-rak’ah prayer, so he prays noon, afternoon and evening in two rak’ahs until he returns to his country, whether his travel period is long or short.
