He was strong in the truth and did not fear the blame of the blamer. As part of his courage and prestige, he announced to the ears of the Quraysh that he was an emigrant while the Muslims were secretly leaving, and he challenged them. He who wanted his mother to be bereaved, his son to be orphaned, and his wife to be widowed, let him meet me beyond this valley. No one dared stand in his face

It was narrated on the authority of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, many hadiths that show the merits of Umar ibn al-Khattab, including

“God, Glory be to Him, placed the truth on Omar’s tongue and heart”

“The truth after me is with Umar wherever he was”

“If there was a prophet after me, it would be Umar ibn al-Khattab”

“Satan has not met Omar since he embraced Islam except that he fell to his face”

“There is no angel in the sky who does not honor Omar, and there is no devil on earth who does not separate from Omar”

The Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “You saw me entering Paradise, so I was at Al-Rumaisa, the wife of Abu Talha, and I heard fear in front of me, so I said: Who is this, Gabriel? He said: This is Bilal, and I saw a white palace with a maid in its yard, so I said: Whose palace is this? They said: For Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, so I wanted to enter him and look at him, so I mentioned your jealousy. True talk

The Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “While I was sleeping, a cup of milk was brought to me, and I drank from it until I could see the watering running down my fingernails. Then I gave my surplus to Umar ibn al-Khattab.” He said: “Knowledge”

The Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “While I was sleeping, I saw people showing shirts to me, some of which reached the breast and some that reached lower than that. . He said: “Religion”

Omar's succession

Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, desired a strong personality capable of assuming responsibility after him, and his opinion turned towards Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, so he consulted a number of companions, Muhajireen and Ansar, and they praised him well. Among what Othman bin Affan said: “O God, teach him that his secret is better than his public, and that he We do not have the same.” And based on that advice and out of concern for the unity of Muslims and taking care of their interests

Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq recommended the succession of Omar after him, and explained the reason for his choice, saying: “Oh God, I only wanted to reform them, and I feared sedition for them, so I did what you know about them, and I worked hard for them to have an opinion, so I appointed them the best and the strongest over them.

” Then he took the general pledge of allegiance to him in the mosque, when he addressed the Muslims, saying: “Would you be satisfied with whom I appointed as caliph over you?” By God, I have not been given the effort of opinion, and I have not been appointed to my kin, and I have appointed Omar Ibn Al-Khattab as successor, so listen to him and obey.” The Muslims replied: “We hear and obey.” They pledged allegiance to him in the year 13 AH



Achievements of Omar bin Al-Khattab

His caliphate lasted ten years during which many important achievements were accomplished. This is why Ibn Masoud, may God be pleased with him, described him and said: “Umar’s conversion to Islam was a conquest, his emigration was a victory, and his Imamate was a mercy. Until they left us and we prayed”

He was the first to gather the people for the night prayer in the month of Ramadan in the year (14 AH), and the first to write the history of the migration in the month of Rabi` al-Awwal in the year (16 AH), and the first to work hard, inspecting his flock at night while he was the one who set the tax, just as he determined the cities He summoned the judges, wrote down the bureaus, imposed the gifts, performed ten consecutive pilgrimages with the people, and performed the pilgrimages with the Mothers of the Believers in the last pilgrimage, and demolished the Prophet’s Mosque, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and added to it. 

The pebbles are in the Prophet’s Mosque, and when people raised their heads from prostration, they shook their hands, so Umar ordered the pebbles to be brought from the agate, and they were laid out in the Prophet’s Mosque - may God bless him and grant him peace. The people of Najran and sent them down to Kufa

Islamic expansions

Omar's prestige and humility

The martyrdom of Omar Ibn Al-Khattab and his burial

Omar, may God be pleased with him, wished for martyrdom for the sake of God and prayed to his Lord to obtain its honor: “Oh God, grant me a martyrdom for your sake and make my death in the country of your messenger.” And one day, while he was performing the dawn prayer in the mosque, Abu Lulu’ah al-Majusi stabbed him several times in the back, which led to his martyrdom on Wednesday night for three days. The remaining nights of Dhu al-Hijjah in the twenty-third year of the Hijrah

Before Faten's death, Umar ibn al-Khattab had sent his son Abdullah to Aisha, may God be pleased with them, asking her permission to be buried with his two companions, the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and Abu Bakr. His two companions are in the honorable room of the Prophet, which is now in the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina
