 Jaafar bin Abi Talib

Islam Jaafar and his wife

Jaafar bin Abi Talib, Abu Abdullah, the cousin of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, the brother of Ali bin Abi Talib, and ten years older than him, embraced Islam before the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, entered the house of Al-Arqam, taking his high place among the early believers after thirty-one people, and his wife converted to Islam on the same day Asma bint Amis, and they bore their share of harm and persecution with courage and joy. When the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, permitted the Muslims to migrate to Abyssinia, Jaafar and his wife went out, where they lived for several years, during which they had three children

Jafar in Abyssinia

When the Quraysh saw that the companions of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, were safe and secure in the land of Abyssinia, they decided to send Abdullah bin Abi Rabia and Amr bin Al-Aas bearing gifts for the Negus and his Patriarchs, so that he might expel the Muslims from his homes. Then they presented the Negus with his gifts and asked permission to see him and said to him: “Oh king, foolish boys have come to your country, they have left the religion of their people and have not entered into your religion, and they have brought a religion that they invented that neither we nor you know, and we have sent to you among them the nobles of their people from their fathers.” and their paternal uncles and clan to return them to them, for they are more knowledgeable than them and know what they reproached them for.” So Al-Najashi, the owner of deep faith and a fair biography, sent to the Muslims and asked them: “What is this religion in which you have separated from your people and you have not entered with it into my religion or into the religion of anyone out of denomination»

The one chosen by the Muslims to speak was Jaafar, may God be pleased with him, and he said: “O king, we were a people of ignorance, worshiping idols, eating dead meat, committing abominations, severing ties of kinship, abusing neighbours, and the strong among us devour the weak, so we were on that until God sent us a messenger from among us. His lineage, his honesty, his trustworthiness and his chastity, so he called us to God to unite and worship Him, and commanded us to speak the truth, to fulfill the trust, to uphold the ties of kinship, and to be good neighbours.

So we worshiped God alone, and we did not associate anything with Him, and we forbade what was forbidden to us, and permitted us what was lawful for us, so our people attacked us, so they tortured and tempted us. From our religion, to return us to worshiping idols, so we went out to your country, and chose you over everyone else, and we desired your neighborhood, and we hoped that we would not be unjust to you, O king.” The Negus said: “Do you have anything that God brought with you?” Jaafar said to him: “Yes.” And he recited to him from the beginning of Surat Maryam, so the Negus wept and his bishops wept, then the Negus said: “This is what Jesus brought to come out of one niche! Go, no, by God, I will not hand them over to you, and they hardly”

On the next day, the Quraysh envoys plotted against the Muslims another plot, when Amr said to the Negus: “O king, they say a great saying about Jesus son of Mary, so send to them and ask them what they say.” So he sent to the Muslims asking them, and when they came to him, Ja`far, may God be pleased with him, replied: “We say about him.” What our Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, came to us, for he is God’s servant, His Messenger, His spirit, and His word which He bestowed upon the Virgin Mary.” Then the Negus exclaimed, confirming and declaring that this was telling the truth and granting the Muslims complete security in his country, and he responded to the unbelievers with their gifts

Return from Abyssinia

Jaafar bin Abi Talib and his companions came to the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, on the day of the conquest of Khaibar. The Negus carried them in two ships. » Jaafar’s soul was filled with amazement at what he heard of the news of his Muslim brothers who fought with the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, the battles of Badr, Uhud, and others

The father of the poor

The Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said to Ja’far: “You resemble my character and character.” And the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, called him (the father of the poor), Abu Huraira said: “If I were to stick my stomach to pebbles out of hunger, and if I were to read the verse while it was with me so that he would turn to me and feed me, and the last of the people to the poor was Ja’far Ibn Abi Talib used to turn us around and feed us what was in his house, even if he would bring us the bun that had nothing in it, so we would split it and lick what was in it

Testimony of Jaafar bin Abi Talib

In the Battle of Mu’tah in Jumada al-Awwal in the year 8, Ja’far, may God be pleased with him, had an appointment with martyrdom. Zaid bin Haritha, may God be pleased with him, was martyred. I would like Paradise and its closeness is good and its drink cold, and the rum is a rum whose punishment is approaching, an infidel whose genealogy is far from me when I met her with her misfortune”

That Ja`far, may God be pleased with him, took the flag in his right hand and it was cut off, then he took it in his left and it was cut off, so he embraced it with his arms until he was killed, when he was thirty-three years old, so God rewarded him with two wings in Paradise with which he flies wherever he wants

Sad for Jafar

Mrs. Aisha says: “When the death of Jaafar came, we recognized the sadness on the face of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him.” When the death of Jaafar came to him, the Holy Prophet entered his wife, Asma bint Umais, and said to her: “Bring me the sons of Jaafar.” And my mother, what makes you cry? Did he tell you anything about Ja`far and his companions?” He said: “Yes, they were injured today.” So she started shouting, and Fatima entered while crying and saying: “And he blinded him! Then the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “For the likes of Ja’far, let the mourners weep.” The Messenger returned to his family and said: “Do not neglect the family of Ja’far, for they have been busy”

The Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was deeply distressed about this until Gabriel, peace be upon him, came to him and told him that God Almighty had given Ja’far two wings covered with blood, with which he would fly with the angels

Fadl Jaafar bin Abi Talib

Abu Hurairah said: “He did not wear sandals or ride on mounts after the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, better than Ja’far.” As Abdullah bin Ja’far said: “If I asked Ali for something, he would stop me and say to him: By the right of Ja’far?! If only he would give me.” When Umar ibn al-Khattab saw Abdullah ibn Jaafar, he said: “Peace be upon you, O son of two wings”
