The name of the Prophet Idris, peace be upon him, was mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. The Almighty said: “And mention Idris in the Book. Indeed, he was a truthful prophet.” [Maryam: 56]

He is the grandfather of Noah, peace be upon him. Thirty newspapers were revealed to him, and he called for the unity of God and a thousand people believed in him.

Biography of the Prophet Idris, peace be upon him

Idris, peace be upon him, is one of the honorable messengers whom God Almighty told about in the writing of the Mighty, and mentioned him in a few places of the Qur’an’s chapters.

Lineage of the Prophet Idris, peace be upon him

He is Idris bin Yared bin Mahalael, and his lineage ends with Sheth bin Adam, peace be upon him, and his name among the Hebrews is (Khenoukh) and in the Arabic translation (Enoch), and he is one of the ancestors of Noah, peace be upon him. He is the first of the sons of Adam to be given prophecy after (Adam) and (Sheth), peace be upon them both, and Ibn Ishaq mentioned that he was the first to write with the pen, and he realized from the life of Adam, peace be upon him, 308 years because Adam had a long life of about 1000 thousand years.

The life of the Prophet Idris, peace be upon him

Scientists differed about his birth and upbringing, some of them said that Idris was born in Babylon, and others said that he was born in Egypt and the first correct opinion, and he took in the knowledge of Sheth bin Adam at the beginning of his life, and when he grew up, God gave him prophecy, so he forbade the corruptors of the children of Adam from violating the law of (Adam) and ( Sheth) So a few people obeyed him, and a group of guards opposed him, so he intended to travel on their behalf and ordered those of them who obeyed him to do so, so it was difficult for them to leave their homelands, so they said to him, And where do we find if we leave like (Babylon)? So he stood on the Nile and glorified God, and Idris and those with him stayed in Egypt calling people to God and to good morals.

And he had sermons and etiquette. He called to the religion of God, to the worship of the Creator, may He be glorified and exalted, and to free souls from torment in the Hereafter, by doing righteous deeds in this world. Everything from drinks, and he emphasized it with the greatest emphasis, and it was said that in his time there were 72 tongues that people spoke with, and God Almighty taught him all of their logic so that he would teach each group of them with their tongue.

And he was the first to teach civil politics, and he drew for his people the rules of civilizing cities, so every group of nations built cities in its land and established 188 cities in his time. his good deeds) and his saying (patience with faith leads to victory).

The death of the Prophet Idris, peace be upon him

There was a difference of opinion about his death.. Ibn Wahb, on the authority of Jarir bin Hazem, on the authority of Al-Amash, on the authority of Shamar bin Attia, on the authority of Hilal bin Yasaf said: Ibn Abbas asked Kaaba while I was present, and he said to him: What is the saying of God Almighty to Idris {And We raised him to a high place} [Maryam : 57]? Kaab said: As for Idris, God revealed to him: I raise for you every day the same as all the work of the sons of Adam - perhaps he is one of the people of his time - so he would love to increase his work, so a friend of his from the angels came to him.

He said (to him): God revealed to me such and such, so he spoke to the angel of death until he increased his work, so he carried him between his wings and then ascended him to heaven. ? He said he is on my back, and the angel of death said: What a wonder! I was sent and was told to take Idris's soul in the fourth heaven, so I made to say: How do I take his soul in the fourth heaven while he is on earth?! He took his soul there.

That is the saying of God Almighty: {And We raised him to a higher place} [Maryam: 57] and it was narrated by Ibn Abi Hatim when interpreting it. And he said to that king, “Ask me the angel of death, how much of my life is left?” He asked him while he was with him: How old is he left? He said: I do not know until I look, so he looked, and he said that you are asking me about what is left of a man of his life except for the blink of an eye. So the king looked at Idris under his wing, and if he had been arrested, he did not feel. This is one of the Israeli women, and some of it is disgusting.

And Ibn Abi Najih said on the authority of Mujahid in his saying: {And We raised him to a high place} [Maryam: 57]: Idris was raised and did not die as Jesus was raised. If he wanted that he had not died until now, then he looked at this, and if he wanted that he was raised alive to heaven, then he was arrested there. It is not inconsistent with the foregoing of the heels of the rabbis. God knows.

Al-Awfi said on the authority of Ibn Abbas in his saying: {And We raised him to a high place} [Maryam: 57]: He was taken up to the sixth heaven and died there, and this is what Ad-Dahhak said. The agreed hadith that he is in the fourth heaven is more correct, and it is the saying of Mujahid and more than one.

Al-Bukhari said: It is mentioned on the authority of Ibn Masoud and Ibn Abbas that Elias is Idris, and they sought comfort in that with what came in the hadith of Al-Zuhri on the authority of Anas in the Night Journey: that when he passed by him, peace be upon him, he said to him, “Welcome to the righteous brother and the righteous prophet,” and he did not say as Adam and Abraham said: Welcome By the righteous Prophet and the righteous son, they said: If he was in the column of his lineage, he would have said to him as they told him.

This does not indicate and must, the narrator may not have memorized it well, or he may have said it in a way of digestion and humility, and he did not erect for him in the position of fatherhood as he erected for Adam, the father of mankind, and Abraham, who is the friend of the Most Merciful, and the greatest of those of determination after Muhammad, may God’s prayers be upon them all.
