Prophet Muhammad
(peace be upon him) was born on Monday. According to the narrations of Abu Qatada, he was asked about the significance of Monday, to which he replied, "That is the day on which I was born or the day on which revelation was sent down to me"
It is reported by Ya'qub ibn Sufyan from Ibn Abbas that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born on Monday, received his first revelation on Monday, and passed away on Monday. It was also on a Monday when he uncovered the Black Stone
Some sources mention that Surah Al-Ma'idah (Chapter 5) was revealed on a Monday, which includes the verse: "This day I have perfected for you your religion." Furthermore, the Battle of Badr, a significant event in Islamic history, took place on a Monday
Regarding the time of Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) birth, it is mentioned by Ma'ruf ibn Kharbuz that he was born at dawn. However, there are differing opinions on whether he was born during the day or at night. The majority opinion suggests that he was born during the day
When Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born, his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, slaughtered a sheep and named him Muhammad. When asked about the choice of name, Abdul Muttalib replied, "I wanted Allah to praise him in the heavens and people to praise him on earth"
According to some narrations, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was named Muhammad based on a vision seen by his father, Abdullah. In the vision, a silver chain extended from Abdullah's back, with one end in the sky and the other on the earth, connecting the East and the West. The chain transformed into a tree, and on each leaf was a radiant light. The people of the East and the West clung to it. Abdullah interpreted this vision as a sign that a child would be born from his lineage who would be followed by people from all corners of the world and praised by the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) possessed eloquence and eloquent speech. His words were filled with wisdom, conciseness, and clarity. He had a profound understanding of the Arabic language and addressed each nation in their own language. People would seek his explanations and interpretations of his sayings, indicating his profound knowledge and mastery of language
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was raised by his mother, Amina bint Wahb, and his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, who were entrusted with his care by Allah. However, at the age of six, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) experienced the loss of his mother. Amina passed away during a journey between Makkah and Madinah
After the death of Amina, Abdul Muttalib took responsibility for Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) upbringing with great care and affection.
In the seventh year of Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) birth, he experienced a severe illness known as "Al-Ramd." He was taken to a monk in the vicinity of 'Ukaz, who was known for treating eye diseases. However, the monk, recognizing the signs of prophethood in the young Muhammad, refused to treat him, fearing that he might be harmed by the people of the Book. Instead, he returned the child and advised Abdul Muttalib to protect and preserve him, as he was destined for a great future. The monk's words created a sense of love and respect for Muhammad (peace be upon him) among his people
alib passed away when Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was only eight years old. After his grandfather's death, he was taken care of by his uncle, Abu Talib. Abu Talib loved and protected him throughout his life, even though he did not embrace Islam
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) grew up to be known for his honesty, trustworthiness, and noble character. He gained a reputation as "Al-Ameen" (the trustworthy) among his people, which earned him the respect and admiration of the entire community
At the age of 25, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) married Khadijah bint Khuwaylid, a wealthy and noble woman from Makkah. Their marriage was blessed with love, harmony, and mutual support. Khadijah played a significant role in supporting and encouraging Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during the early years of his prophethood.
When Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) reached the age of 40, he received the first revelation from Allah through the Angel Gabriel while he was in the cave of Hira. The angel commanded him to read, and the Prophet, although illiterate, received the words of the Quran with complete clarity and memorized them. This event marked the beginning of his prophethood and the revelation of the Holy Quran, which continued over a period of 23 years.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) faced immense challenges and opposition from the Quraysh tribe, who were the dominant tribe in Makkah at the time. The Quraysh vehemently opposed his message of monotheism and the abandonment of idol worship, as it threatened their position and authority. They subjected the early Muslims to severe persecution and boycotts, but the Prophet remained steadfast in his mission, displaying unwavering patience and resilience
Despite the hardships, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) continued to preach the message of Islam and attract followers. The early converts to Islam faced persecution, torture, and even death for their beliefs. Eventually, the Prophet and his followers were forced to migrate to the city of Madinah in what became known as the Hijra
In Madinah, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) established the first Islamic state, which served as a model for governance based on justice, equality, and compassion. He formed alliances with various tribes and forged a strong sense of unity among the diverse inhabitants of Madinah
The Prophet's leadership extended beyond the religious realm. He served as a judge, mediator, and advisor to the people of Madinah. His teachings and actions covered various aspects of life, including social, economic, and political matters
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) participated in several military expeditions to defend the Muslim community and establish peace. However, he always emphasized the importance of peaceful resolution and forgiveness whenever possible. His teachings emphasized the sanctity of life, the importance of upholding justice, and the value of mercy and compassion towards all beings
The last years of the Prophet's life were marked by his Farewell Pilgrimage, where he delivered his final sermon, emphasizing the importance of unity, equality, and the rights of individuals. After completing the pilgrimage, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) returned to Madinah, where he fell ill and passed away on Monday, the 12th of Rabi'al-Awwal, in the year 632 CE
